Introduction to Haiku Poetry

We love haiku around here. It’s a great place to introduce kids to poetry that’s quick and simple, though it can take some thought to work out the lines just right. They’re a nice option for homeschool creative writing that can be fit into just about any topic, though traditional haiku is usually about nature themes.

This little set of pages has an introduction into how haiku is written, two full-page “posters” you can use as examples or inspiration, and a blank poster for your own haiku writing creations.

Oh my gosh! We love haiku poetry! We like to make them up when we are in the car since every time we leave the house it’s guaranteed to be at least a 30 minute drive. Thanks for the printable.
